I enjoy Richard Willard Schultz books but especially this one for these reasons. Schultz explains scenes in  such a way - you feel his descriptions in 'real time', like your right there living with the indian adults and children feeling what they feel and learning what they learned in the moment. It was also interesting to learn the differences between how we discipline our children today versus indians. Not only would indians parents teach their children lessons- but if there was any in fighting the Chiefs would call a council of all the children in a village- and tell them how important it was they not fight each other because they needed to stay United to fight their enemies from other tribes someday. It worked and there was very little violence- at least within the tribe.  In all my reading of American Indian history, I've never read such a beautiful description of their version of God- and the indian creation story. Curtis relays that in this book via the words of White Wolf, the father of Sinopah.

There is not a better author about the Native American {Blackfeet confederacy mostly} he spoke the language, and live with and married into the tribe. J.W was quite a man he has 47 books all good.
This story was of a young boy soon to take his place in a warrior club and become a man
I have read several stories by this author and am captivated by these stories of Indian life I am amazed by their life style. Enjoy
This book details the formative years of Sinopah. It describes the endearment of a child to his family. It describes a grandfather pouring his life into his grandson. It is a lovely book.
I for one do not like writing these book reviews. The quality of a book and the interest in contains is in the individual reader and if they have heart in the subject. So lets say for this particukar book I r3ad it cover t8 dover and was nit disappointed.
A story of the birth and growth of an Indian boy destined to be
Chief of his people, the Black feet. The author vividly depicts the life and the beliefs of these people in realistic terms. He lived and worked among them many years and his affection for them shines through in every sentence. Young people in particular, would like the book.
Schultz is regarded as one of the most authentic and interesting writers of Indian and mountain man life. Each of his following 99-cent e-books are highly recommended reading
